About the position

The Corporate Trainer IT/PC Software Training position at Houston Community College (HCC) focuses on providing soft-skills training to corporate clients, particularly in leadership, management, supervisory, and customer service skills. The trainer will assess client needs, develop customized training content, and deliver instruction in various formats. This role is essential in fostering positive relationships between HCC and the community while contributing to local economic development through workforce training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide soft skills training to corporate clients on an on-call basis.
  • Assess training needs for clients in conjunction with Corporate College staff.
  • Customize training content and format to fit client's objectives.
  • Provide instruction in areas such as leadership, supervisory skills, diversity, and human resource issues.
  • Deliver training in 1 to 3 day classroom formats using relevant training materials.
  • Update and revise course content and teaching methodology to maintain relevance.
  • Maintain familiarity with current texts, materials, and teaching aids.
  • Actively seek ways to improve instruction.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with clients and Corporate College as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records, including class schedules and attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a specialized area.
  • Level 3 - Certifications in courses (Leadership, Customer Service, etc.) preferred.
  • Nine plus (9+) years of demonstrated corporate training experience required.
  • Seven or more (7+) years of experience working in HCC conducting corporate training preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in management, human resources, and curriculum development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community college or university teaching.
  • Ability to use current technology effectively.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
