About the position

The Corporate Trainer at the National Children's Center, Inc. plays a vital role in the organization by collaborating closely with the Professional Development Manager and senior leadership. This position is essential in designing and administering a comprehensive professional training and development program tailored for the workforce. The Trainer will be responsible for developing a broad curriculum that fosters growth and development opportunities for every role within the organization, ensuring that the training aligns with NCC's mission to provide a lifetime of opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In partnership with the Professional Development Manager, the Trainer will establish strategic training goals and objectives that reflect NCC's core values and industry best practices. This includes overseeing the systems that support training initiatives and identifying external training resources that incorporate the latest trends and innovations in adult education and professional development. The Trainer will provide support across various areas of professional development, including core competencies, subject-specific instruction related to intellectual disabilities, and mandatory retraining requirements. The position is based in Downtown Silver Spring, MD, with travel required to various sites across Washington, DC, and Montgomery and Prince George's County, MD, to deliver training. This is a hybrid role, requiring candidates to live in the DC/MD/VA area, with approximately two days per week in the office and additional office days as needed for training delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and revise core competency training programs reflective of NCC's core values and industry best practices.
  • Oversee New Hire Orientation, including maintaining necessary training materials.
  • Assist programs in completing mandatory training in compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Facilitate and support mandatory certification training required by regulation and/or that reflect best practices, such as MANDT, CPR/First Aid, and Food Handlers.
  • Design original training programs based on internal trends, industry and regulatory requirements, and staff survey data.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management on usage, evaluation, and effectiveness of training initiatives.
  • Travel to various sites in Maryland and Washington, DC to deliver training as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of training experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including needs assessment, curriculum development, training delivery, and assessment.
  • Experience in adult training and teaching.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) experience, with Relias being a plus.
  • Work or lived experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities is beneficial.
  • CPR & First Aid certification (or eligibility).
  • COVID-19 vaccination required prior to the first day of work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with curriculum development specific to intellectual disabilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory training requirements in the nonprofit sector.
