About the position

As a Corporate Trainer at Suburban Propane, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our employees through effective training and coaching initiatives. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, implement, and refine training programs that cater to the needs of our field personnel. You will utilize adult learning principles to conduct engaging training events and support various coaching initiatives across the organization. Your expertise will help ensure that our training efforts align with Suburban Propane's vision and values, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the company. In this role, you will attain certification status in all required training disciplines and deliver training in various classroom formats, utilizing relevant training support materials and tools. You will facilitate and coach a defined range of targeted skill-building programs that support employee training and development. Your ability to design and maintain training materials will be crucial in facilitating the development of skills necessary for effective employee performance. You will present using established and effective training methods, techniques, and ideas, while also participating in the evaluation of training effectiveness. Collaborating with others, you will take appropriate actions to implement improvements based on feedback and assessment results. Your resourcefulness in consulting subject matter experts will enhance your content knowledge, allowing you to establish credibility with your audience by linking training material to their job experiences and challenges. Additionally, you will assist in developing new training courses that address skill gaps and introduce new products or services. Your proactive approach to enhancing the training experience will involve seeking evidence of audience engagement and comprehension, adjusting your training methods accordingly. You will also be responsible for setting up and maintaining a conducive training environment, ensuring that all logistical aspects are in place for successful training sessions. This position requires 50% travel throughout the U.S. to deliver training needs, making it essential for you to be adaptable and ready to engage with employees across various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Attains certification status in all required training disciplines and delivers training in various classroom formats, using relevant training support materials and tools.
  • Facilitates/coaches a defined range of targeted skill-building programs/courses supporting employee training and development.
  • Designs and maintains training materials to facilitate the development of skills required for effective employee performance that support Suburban Propane's vision and values.
  • Presents using established and effective training methods, techniques, and ideas.
  • Participates in the evaluation of training effectiveness, and works with others to take appropriate action to implement improvements.
  • Quickly masters training content and is resourceful in consulting subject matter experts and other resources to add to his/her content knowledge.
  • Uses the training material as a guide rather than a script; establishes credibility with the audience by knowing the content, providing relevant examples, and linking material to the audience's job experiences and challenges.
  • Assists in developing new training courses associated with the identification of skill gaps, new products or services.
  • Studies and develops skills to enhance the training experience; proactively seeks evidence of audience engagement and comprehension; adjusts training accordingly.
  • Sets up and maintains training environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a corporate trainer and/or facilitator
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated proficiency in both oral and written communication
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present ideas in discussion and oral presentations
  • Strong attention to detail and self-editing skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing tasking, priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills and able to meet deadlines for reports and other required paperwork
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with multiple applications to support coaching responsibilities such as call recording applications, HRIS programs, etc.
