About the position

This position is responsible for managing a case load of offenders, which includes developing case plans, addressing offender inquiries, and making recommendations to the classification committee. The role also involves assisting in major dynamic programs for offender rehabilitation, such as work assignments, education, and transition planning prior to parole or release into the community. The position is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, with established working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and may require additional hours to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Developing case plans for offenders.
  • Answering and following up on offender questions and problems.
  • Making recommendations to the classification committee.
  • Assisting in major dynamic programs for rehabilitation of offenders.
  • Coordinating major or specialized programs such as work assignments, education, and recreation.
  • Planning and coordinating transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release.

Requirements

  • Documented knowledge of case management practices.
  • Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques.
  • Experience with interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
  • Associates degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field, or a high school diploma with two years of custody experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
  • Certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
