About the position

The Correctional Case Manager position at Catawba Correctional Center involves working with incarcerated individuals to provide support and counseling, ensuring their safety and rehabilitation. The role requires effective communication, crisis intervention, and the ability to operate under stressful conditions while monitoring programs and conducting evaluations of offenders' behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct continuous visual and audio surveillance of assigned work area.
• Prepare written reports and forms reflecting information from various sources.
• Demonstrate and instruct offenders in the proper safe use of tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Monitor off-site programs, requiring safe operation of a motor vehicle in varying conditions.
• Perform crisis interventions and routine counseling, including suicide prevention.
• Review, analyze, and evaluate various documents and behavioral data from interviews and observations.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field from an accredited institution; or a high school diploma/GED with two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Documented knowledge of Supportive Counseling Techniques.
• Eligibility for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
