About the position

The Correctional Institution Administrator for the Commitment & Treatment Program at the Department of Justice is responsible for overseeing the operations of the program, ensuring the civil commitment of sexually dangerous persons is managed effectively. This role involves evaluating psychological treatment programs, advising the Warden on policy establishment, and maintaining the security of the institution. The position requires a strong understanding of correctional techniques and the ability to supervise and direct staff effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise control and supervision of the Commitment & Treatment Program's operations.
  • Oversee the civil commitment of sexually dangerous persons throughout the correctional facility.
  • Evaluate and review psychological treatment and assessment programs developed by clinical psychologists.
  • Recommend or implement changes to treatment programs to meet requirements and goals.
  • Advise the Warden on policies and programs related to institution operations.
  • Maintain the security of the institution as a primary responsibility.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation.
  • Experience in correctional programs with substantial involvement in correctional techniques.
  • Ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties successfully.
  • Knowledge of custody, treatment, training, and release of inmates in penal or correctional institutions.
  • Experience in managing clinical service programs for inmates certified or civilly committed as sexually dangerous persons.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in directing and evaluating specialized clinical treatment programs for sex offenders.
  • Research and interpretation of policies related to sex offenders and civil commitment procedures.
