About the position

The Correctional Institution Administrator serves as a key executive assistant to the Warden, overseeing the management of correctional programs and ensuring the institution's mission is met. This role involves developing policies, monitoring programs, and maintaining security within the institution while fostering a humane environment for inmates. The position requires strong leadership and administrative skills to effectively manage diverse programs and support the Warden in institutional operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop plans, policies, and programs for institution management under the direction of the Warden.
• Monitor and evaluate institution programs to achieve overall objectives.
• Oversee the Inmate Administrative Remedy program and represent the Warden during investigations of inmate management issues.
• Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate diversified programs within the institution.
• Assist in determining and establishing policies and programs related to institutional operations.
• Maintain security of the institution and ensure correctional responsibilities are prioritized.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation.
• Thorough knowledge of correctional techniques and experience in dealing with inmates and associates in a correctional environment.
• Experience in supervisory or administrative duties, including training subordinates and evaluating performance.
• Knowledge of an institution's internal policies, programs, regulations, and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in public relations work, giving speeches and lectures.
• Knowledge of the American Correctional Association (ACA) process.
