Responsibilities

  • Formulates institution supplements to ensure Bureau of Prisons (BOP) policy is properly implemented at the institution level in the area of case management.
  • Provides technical assistance and serves as a resource for institution and administrative staff in case management and related areas.
  • Assists with Case Manager training during the on-the-job training required at the time of their entry on duty in the position.
  • Serves as a liaison with the U.S. Parole Commission, U.S. Probation Service and the federal courts.
  • Assists with the certification of staff in central inmate monitoring procedures and responsibility for the proper operation of the institution screening and locator center.
  • Charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Degree that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in corrections or a related field.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of case management policies and practices regarding programs and treatment options available and inmate participation.
  • Experience in providing technical assistance and serving as a resource for institution administrative staff in case management and related areas.
  • Experience working as a part of the institution administration to develop plans, policies, and procedures for institution management.
