About the position

The Corrections Emergency Response Specialist at the Nebraska State Penitentiary is responsible for maintaining the Emergency Preparedness Systems at both the penitentiary and the Community Corrections Center - Lincoln. This role involves overseeing all aspects of emergency preparedness, including the development and maintenance of emergency plans, conducting training sessions, and supporting incident management during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Emergency Preparedness systems and manuals for NSP and CCC-L.
• Monitor Emergency Preparedness Policies in the facilities.
• Conduct annual reviews and updates of emergency plans, post orders, and checklists.
• Establish agreements for aid within NDCS and other agencies.
• Inspect, assess, and inventory emergency equipment; prepare purchase orders and budget requests.
• Support the Incident Commander and Incident Management Team during emergencies.
• Conduct training sessions, drills, and inspections, and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Assist other facilities with their drills.
• Conduct and facilitate critical incident reviews and document findings.

Requirements

• Post high school training in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, disaster planning, or related field.
• Responsible correctional experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates degree plus three years correctional experience.
• Experience in state or federal emergency management (must be able to complete NEMA certification).
• Experience with the use and application of audio/visual training aids and/or equipment.
• Experience giving presentations.
