About the position

The Corrections Lieutenant at Haynesville Correctional Center plays a crucial role in ensuring public safety by managing the daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates. This position involves supervising staff to maintain a safe and secure environment, leading and counseling team members, and conducting inspections to uphold security and sanitation standards within the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates.
  • Supervise and monitor staff on assigned shift to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Lead and counsel staff, coordinating work schedules and assigning duty rosters.
  • Contribute to the administration of the performance management system for staff.
  • Conduct ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation, and good order of the institution.
  • Interact with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • DCJS Certification.
  • Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
  • Experience supervising corrections staff.
  • Working experience in planning, scheduling, and organizing work including timekeeping and duty roster management.
  • Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
  • Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
  • Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

Nice-to-haves

  • LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training.
  • Working experience with evidence-based practices.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook.
