About the position

The Corrections Lieutenant at St. Brides Correctional Center plays a crucial role in ensuring public safety by managing the daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates. This position is responsible for supervising staff, maintaining security and order within the institution, and leading performance management efforts. The role requires effective interaction with various stakeholders to uphold a safe and productive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates.
  • Supervise and monitor staff on assigned shift to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Lead and counsel staff, coordinating work schedules and assigning duty rosters.
  • Contribute to the administration of the performance management system for staff.
  • Conduct ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation, and good order of the institution.
  • Interact with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • DCJS Certification.
  • Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
  • Experience supervising corrections staff.
  • Working experience in planning, scheduling, and organizing work including timekeeping and duty roster management.
  • Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
  • Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
  • Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

Nice-to-haves

  • LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training.
  • Working experience with evidence-based practices.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook.
