This position works Monday-Friday and may also be eligible for telework upon approval of supervisor. AGENCY PROFILE: CCCC is a 480-bed male facility. The facility is located in the Capital Forest 20 miles south of Tumwater. CCCC is co-located with the Department of Natural Resources and is a minimum-security facility. This facility houses minimum security incarcerated individuals and offers treatment, work, and vocational programs to help ready incarcerated individuals to transition back into the community. CCCC is a sustainability prison; some of the many programs include: rehabilitation of ailing Western Pond Turtles, raising bees, training service dogs, gardening, and composting. The site includes two living units, a health clinic, education buildings, a gymnasium and support facilities. All incarcerated individuals work at this facility either on an off-site work crew or within the facility grounds. Duties The Corrections Specialist 2 functions as the Legal Liaison Officer, Public Information Officer, Public Disclosure Coordinator, and Audit Compliance Coordinator for Cedar Creek Corrections Center. Specific duties include: Legal Liaison Officer: Serve as conduit between Attorney General's Office (AGO) and facility staff. Schedule attorney meetings, staff, and incarcerated individual depositions at the facility. Review, compiles information, and responds to requests. Prepares legal declarations. Manage virtual hearings process and legal access for incarcerated individuals. Provides notary service. Public Information Officer: Act as spokesperson for facility and maintain working relationships with public, outside organizations, and the media. Serve as Public Information Officer for media events and emergency responses and serves in Incident Command Post. Communicate with staff, incarcerated individuals, attorneys, AGO, and media. Responsible for staff communications; report updates to external webpage pertaining to facility and SharePoint site for facility; design/publish newsletters/articles, and formal communications. Audit Compliance Coordinator: Coordinator for operational reviews, Prison Rape Elimination Act audits, Corrective Action Plans, safety inspections, and security audits; coordinates and assigns tasks. Ensure facility staff are informed of policy requirements and revisions. Monitor, track, and report progress and maintenance of corrective action plans and policy compliance to Superintendent. Also serves as Public Disclosure Coordinator and provides additional administrative support to the facility Superintendent. Qualifications Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent education and three years' experience in office/clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administrative work. Two years' experience working in a correctional setting. Ability to obtain notary credentials within first 90 days after appointment. Knowledge of Public Disclosure Act (RCW 42.56). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of government organizations and functions; administrative and office procedures, research, and data collection; policies of the Department of Corrections and local Operational memorandums; the courts and legal system' legal research; policy development; record retention, media relations; public information; public disclosure. Knowledge and understanding of the field of corrections, Revised Code of Washington; and Washington Administrative Code. Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with excellent grammar; interpret policy, compose and respond to communications from staff, inmates, courts, and the Attorney General's Office; interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with all areas of the department, facility and the public; manage, mentor and train staff, make effective decisions, anticipate, advise, and coordinate long range planning for the areas of responsibility and communicate well under trying circumstances (emergencies) for extended periods of time.
