The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is seeking to hire a Corrections Unit Supervisor (CUS) in the Adult Specialized Supervision Services (ASSS) division. This position will supervise probation officers, establish and implement standards for staff performance, and provide quality assurance and training within the Interstate/Intrastate unit. This is a full-time benefit earning position, classified as a Corrections Unit Supervisor. The position is hybrid, performed both on site at the Hennepin County Government Center and remotely as job duties allow. Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

  • Manage the probation officers including hiring, evaluating, and performance management.
  • Support Evidence Based Practices (EBP) efforts and effectively communicate and implement changes to the unit.
  • Serve as a resource across the department and promote excellent relationships with stakeholders, the Department of Corrections, and other criminal justice partners.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, case consultations, and unit specific trainings.
  • Seven years or more of full-time equivalent work experience as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, sentencing to service crew leader, social worker, or as a supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a non-related field and four years or more of full-time equivalent work experience as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, sentencing to service crew leader, social worker, or as a supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in criminal justice, behavioral/social science, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, law enforcement, education, business, correctional administration, public administration or an equivalent field and three years or more of full-time equivalent work experience as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, sentencing to service crew leader, social worker, or as a supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
  • Master's degree or higher in criminal justice, behavioral/social science, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, law enforcement, education, business, correctional administration, public administration or an equivalent field and two years or more of full-time equivalent work experience as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, sentencing to service crew leader, social worker, or as a supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
  • Experience using Evidence Based Practices (EBP) as it relates to providing services to probationers or in a correctional environment.
  • Supervising and leading employees or teams.
  • Working as a probation or parole officer.
  • Identifying and collaborating with community resources.
  • Navigating cultural similarities and differences and the impacts of culture on service effectiveness, organizational effectiveness, and effective relationships with staff, partners, and those we serve.
  • Developing disparity reduction programs within a corrections environment.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures that govern the work done by Adult Services divisions.
  • Knowledge of the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS).
