About The Position

The Correspondence Specialist at Oklahoma Heart Hospital is responsible for managing all electronic and paper correspondence within the business office. This role involves working closely with Customer Service to handle updates related to open balances, including attorney requests, settlements, and insurance letters. The specialist will ensure timely routing of documentation, manage payments and remittances, and adhere to HIPAA standards while maintaining effective communication with various departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one year in Insurance Follow-Up or Billing preferred.
  • Ability to learn different types of insurance correspondence.
  • Foundational working knowledge of medical insurance.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated independent judgment and sound reasoning ability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Epic or OnBase is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all electronic and paper correspondence in the business office.
  • Work with Customer Service to receive updates related to open balances.
  • Route documentation to its proper owner in a timely manner.
  • Manage documentation within the lockbox and prioritize payments and remittance for same-day posting.
  • Receive intra-office and external mail, and send outbound mail as needed.
  • Index all documents to the appropriate location.
  • Note patient accounts for updates to insurance payment statuses.
  • Strictly adhere to all HIPAA standards.
