About the position

The position involves acquiring residential first mortgage loans from third-party originators (TPOs) through various processes. The role focuses on developing a client base within a designated geographic area, maintaining relationships with internal and external customers, and ensuring that all expectations are met to maximize successful business relationships with TPO customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work in assigned territory to promote Mortgage Company loan products and policies to TPOs.
  • Create an annual business plan for sales activities in the assigned area, including client-share analysis and strategy development for each TPO client.
  • Develop new TPO contacts through mortgage affiliations and organizations.
  • Maintain knowledge of Mortgage Company policies, loan products, and pricing policies.
  • Follow defined protocols for escalation of pricing and credit policy exceptions.
  • Complete due diligence for new TPO approval recommendations, including application analysis and reference checks.
  • Conduct training presentations for new TPOs on loan products, pricing, and processing requirements, and provide follow-up training as needed.
  • Assist in resolving procedural and documentation deficiencies of TPOs, including post-closing issues.
  • Manage the pipeline for all registered/locked loans through closing and package delivery to ensure timely delivery.
  • Investigate the business background of potential new TPOs and report any compliance issues to management.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service while managing TPO and support staff expectations.
  • Encourage cross-selling of business services to TPOs and their new customers.
  • Manage to the monthly, quarterly, and annual goals established by the Mortgage Company.

Requirements

  • Experience in mortgage lending or a related field.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting, and regulatory policies.
  • Ability to create and implement business plans and sales strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills for client-share analysis and due diligence processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with third-party originators (TPOs).
  • Familiarity with mortgage banker organizations and insurance company contacts.
  • Previous experience in sales or account management within the mortgage industry.
