About the position

The Corrugated Product Manager at Shorr Packaging is responsible for managing the corrugated program within the designated branches. This role acts as the primary liaison between local corrugated vendors and the company, ensuring alignment with corporate leadership and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The position requires collaboration with sales, branch management, and purchasing to identify and evaluate sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sales on the identification and evaluation of corrugated opportunities for viability within the Shorr sales model
  • Advise Sales with preparation of quotes and set sell levels based on market competitiveness
  • Prepare proposals for large or complex opportunities
  • Provide technical sales support to sales reps through direct customer contact
  • Train sales on techniques and value-added selling of corrugated products
  • Manage interactions between Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, and vendors
  • Serve as the main point of contact to the local vendor base, including regular face-to-face visits
  • Understand local vendors' strengths, capabilities, and challenges
  • Develop partnerships with corrugated vendors and evaluate relationships
  • Report on current activity, forecasts, customer needs, and market conditions
  • Evaluate current PO costs for market competitiveness
  • Facilitate onboarding of key corrugated business with sales
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education
  • Listen to clients to understand and exceed their needs
  • Persuade clients on product satisfaction in terms of quality, price, and delivery
  • Make technical presentations using PowerPoint and Excel
  • Negotiate tender and contract terms
  • Assist sales reps in developing and closing corrugated opportunities
  • Coordinate implementation issues related to business transition

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of sales experience and/or direct corrugated manufacturing experience
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of the corrugated supply base preferred
  • Ability to determine appropriate target accounts
  • Understanding of target cost levels required
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Experience and poise in front of customers
