About the position

The Cosmetic Medical Assistant at Dermatology & Laser of Del Mar plays a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced dermatology and cosmetic practice. This position involves assisting with various dermatological and cosmetic procedures, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction and operational efficiency within a boutique-style clinic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre and post-procedure Dermatology and Cosmetic treatments, including skin cancer screening, acne treatments, biopsies, excisions, treatment of warts and rashes, suture removals, blood draws, cosmetic injectables (Botox, Fillers), and laser treatments.
  • Escort patients to and from the exam room and help them prepare for the exam.
  • Enter medical histories and prescriptions into EMR.
  • Assist physicians during exams/procedures in providing quality care to patients.
  • Scribe office visits.
  • Prepare and collect path/lab specimens, notify patients of results, and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Educate patients and respond to patient questions in the office/on the phone as needed.
  • Document all medical instructions given to patients.
  • Clean and organize exam rooms, prepare procedure trays, clean and autoclave instruments, and stock supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a medical office is required.
  • Prior dermatology and cosmetic experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical dermatology terms/CPT, ICD-10.
  • Knowledge of cosmetic products, procedures, and terminology.
  • Quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others, patients, and co-workers.
  • Experience working on electronic medical records.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred but not required.
  • Strong cosmetic experience is required.
