About the position

The Manufacturing Cost Accountant / Analyst position is a critical role within a DFW-based manufacturing facility, responsible for providing comprehensive financial and accounting support. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The successful candidate will work closely with both internal and external auditors to ensure the integrity of financial data and adherence to GAAP and SOX regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to financial analysis, providing reliable and accurate information necessary for operational control and decision-making. In this role, the accountant will perform daily, weekly, and monthly financial reviews and analyses, ensuring that all financial accounting information is documented and certified for correctness and completeness. The candidate will prepare month-end close journal entries, manage the accuracy of financial records related to third-party and intercompany revenues, and conduct variance analysis to support the Sales Director with monthly sales reports. Additionally, the accountant will assist in the annual planning process, working directly with cost center managers to review assumptions and identify potential issues. The Manufacturing Cost Accountant / Analyst will also be responsible for creating informative reports that highlight business trends and opportunities for improvement, suggesting process enhancements to senior management based on analytical findings. This position requires strong communication skills to act as a liaison between departments regarding reporting requirements and to conduct training sessions as necessary. The role will report directly to the Plant Controller and will require on-site presence to effectively manage the responsibilities associated with this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly financial reviews and analysis.
  • Review financial accounting information regularly, document, certify correctness/completeness, investigate, report, and explain variances.
  • Prepare month-end close journal entries for accruals and adjustments based on actual expenses review.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial recording of all third-party and intercompany revenues, including clearing errors for accurate postings.
  • Review and report on third-party and intercompany receivables.
  • Review variance accounts and documentation monthly as provided by the Cost Analyst.
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of financial data, compliance with GAAP, company policies, and SOX.
  • Aid Controller in maintaining internal controls across all areas of plant management.
  • Support internal and external auditors for the plant.
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Suggest process improvements to senior management using analytics to support recommendations.
  • Create informative, actionable, and repeatable reports highlighting relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with the development, consolidation, and analysis of the annual planning process.
  • Act as a liaison between departments regarding reporting requirements and improve management reports as needed.
  • Provide data, input, and financial direction on various special projects.
  • Serve as the Concur delegate for the location.
  • Assist with ad hoc account and financial analysis requirements and identify issues for process improvements.
  • Backup the Controller in forecasting and reporting as required.
  • Develop procedures and perform complex duties within established guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum one year of experience in manufacturing accounting.
