About the position
The Cost Accountant position at Harte Hanks focuses on analyzing and managing production costs within a fulfillment company. The role involves tracking expenses related to materials, labor, and overhead to identify cost optimization opportunities and enhance production efficiency. This hybrid position requires at least three days of on-site work each week in East Bridgewater, MA, and reports directly to the CFO.
Responsibilities
- Breaking down production costs into individual components to forecast production costs and report variances.
- Accurately calculating imbedded labor and overhead costs by tracking inventory movements.
- Investigating reasons behind cost discrepancies and identifying areas for improvement.
- Preparing detailed reports for management on cost trends and potential savings.
- Establishing a system of standard costs for production processes and comparing them to actual costs.
- Collaborating with production managers to develop budgets and monitor cost performance.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and methodologies.
- Expertise in manufacturing processes and operations.
- Ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings to management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly NetSuite and Microsoft D365.
- Ability to work independently.
