About the position

The Cost Accountant at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry plays a crucial role in enhancing profitability and efficiency by accurately assigning costs to various business activities. This position requires a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve budgeting processes within a growing, family-owned manufacturing business.

Responsibilities

• Standard product costing
• Variance calculations
• Budget versus actual comparisons
• Inventory accuracy on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including determining variances and resolving the same
• Manage annual standard cost revaluation
• Collaborate with other departments and areas to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory
• Maintain overall cost accounting system
• Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
• Plan, study, collect data and analyze any changes to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
• Analyze capital budgeting requests for reason, return on investment, and payback; provide statistical analysis of projections
• Assist CFO & Controller on special projects, government reports, and property taxes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Accounting or Finance
• Demonstrated knowledge of data sciences through post-secondary coursework or professional work experience in a manufacturing setting
