About the position

Nidec Minster Corporation is seeking a full-time Cost Accountant who will play a pivotal role in managing costs effectively and supporting informed decision-making to drive business success. This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure the accuracy of cost data, identify areas for improvement, and maintain compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the costs of raw materials, labor, and overhead to determine the cost of production for goods or services.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and operations teams to enhance accuracy of cost and reporting.
  • Investigate variance between standard and actual costs and report on findings with recommendations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline activities, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in costing and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement processes to better capture and summarize product costs, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts by providing accurate cost data and analysis.
  • Prepare monthly reports such as key operating parameters and analyses of standard cost variances.
  • Lead the annual standard cost roll and establishing work center rates.
  • Work with internal and external auditors and provide information for the annual audit.
  • Lead the annual physical inventory and monitor accuracy of cycle count program.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements related to cost accounting and financial reporting.
  • Support the close and consolidation of Nidec Minster and its US and foreign subsidiaries, including preparing necessary journal entries, performing detailed monthly account reconciliations, analyzing and evaluating financial results and preparing supporting schedules.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 2-4 years of cost or manufacturing experience.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles including experience working with routings, BOM's and financial overhead rates.
  • Modern global ERP system experience (SAP preferred).
  • Must be detail-oriented, extremely accurate, and have exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
  • Self-starter with high performance standards.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GAAP and IFRS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.
