About the position

The cost accountant is responsible for overseeing the management accounting and reporting processes and maintaining internal controls that reduce risk and validate the accuracy and completeness of the company's financial statements. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, a team-first mentality, commitment to growth and developing others, and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for percentage of completion revenue recognition and working closely with operations.
• Manage job costing of expenses ensuring accurate coding across the company.
• Data analysis and process improvement related to company expenditures.
• Develop and maintain standard cost rates that impact weekly job costing.
• Collaborate effectively across corporate and operational leadership teams.
• Ability to communicate clearly with executive leadership and operational personnel.
• Issue timely and accurate financial statements on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Ensure that general ledger account reconciliations are completed on a timely basis.
• Maintain strong system of internal controls and orderly accounting system.
• Maintain and document system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Foster an environment of development and growth to accomplish goals and objectives.
• Oversee area of responsibility in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the company.
• Lead technological improvement projects to modernize the accounting and finance functions.

Requirements

• CPA or CMA, preferred
• At least five years of experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Experience in service-based/project-based businesses, preferred
