About the position

The Cost Accountant will track, manage, and analyze costs for automotive projects, with a focus on battery system assembly, chassis assembly, and related commodities. This role requires collaboration with Engineering, Production, Sales, and Purchasing teams to ensure that all cost factors-such as labor, materials, logistics, customs, and customer contracts-are efficiently managed. The position also involves preparing financial reports, supporting RFQs, and conducting scenario and stress test analyses to evaluate the impact of cost fluctuations. Additionally, the role includes conducting financial analyses such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and payback analysis to assess the viability and profitability of projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial success of projects and maintaining tight control over production costs across multiple components.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze costs for battery system assembly, chassis assembly, and related projects, including labor, materials, logistics, and overhead.
  • Provide regular cost reports and variance analyses.
  • Support project teams by tracking budgets and cost deviations.
  • Conduct cost estimations for new projects and collaborate with Engineering on design changes and cost impacts.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Production to ensure accurate cost control in battery and chassis assembly.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Provide cost data for RFQs and help develop pricing strategies that reflect all relevant cost factors.
  • Conduct DCF, NPV, IRR, and payback analysis to assess the financial feasibility of projects.
  • Perform scenario analysis and stress tests to evaluate the impact of cost fluctuations and market changes on project profitability.
  • Prepare and present cost management reports, including variance and profitability analysis, to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in cost management accounting within the automotive industry, especially in battery system and chassis assembly.
  • Experience with RFQs, financial modeling (DCF, NPV, IRR), and cost estimations.
  • Proficiency in SAP (CO, MM, PP).
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in cost management, financial analysis, and scenario forecasting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CIMA, CPA) are a plus.
