About the position

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing, processing, maintaining, and reporting transactions related to fixed assets, inventory, general ledger, and machine costing. This role involves planning and collecting data to determine costs associated with business activities, as well as preparing reports that compare standard costs to actual production costs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and report on transactions involving fixed assets, inventory, and general ledger.
• Plan and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases and labor.
• Accumulate and apply overhead costs according to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Coordinate, process, and analyze production data monthly from the ERP SAP system.
• Support planners with closing production orders.
• Develop quarterly reporting on machine costs.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Purchasing on cost development for new machines.
• Manage automation projects and reconcile revenue recognition based on validation costs monthly.
• Set up and maintain internal projects for new product initiatives.
• Support Engineering to ensure labor hours are booked to projects consistently and timely.
• Calculate, enter, and post transactions to the SAP General Ledger.
• Provide supporting schedules, reconciliations, and roll forward worksheets for various General Ledger accounts.
• Assist in the audit and reconciliation of physical inventory with Operations.
• Act as a backup to the Senior Cost Accountant and assist with related special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
• 3-5 years of related experience in cost accounting.
• Experience with SAP is required.
• CMA designation is desired; MBA is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong computer proficiency, especially in MS Office (Excel).
• Good communication skills and ability to multi-task.

• Experience in machine costing and production data analysis.
• Knowledge of overhead cost accumulation.
