About the position

The Cost Accountant position at EMCORE Corporation is a hybrid role focused on supporting the Finance Team in maintaining and reviewing Estimates at Completion (EAC) and ensuring compliance with various accounting standards and regulations. The role involves analyzing manufacturing and sales variances, assisting with revenue budgeting and forecasting, and providing strategic direction for revenue cycle initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the Aerospace & Defense sector and will be responsible for financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance and review of Estimates at Completion (EAC).
• Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards such as ASC 606.
• Maintain and manage revenue processes to ensure compliance with SOX, US GAAP, SEC, and other regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with operational teams on revenue projects and analyze cost center variances.
• Partner with the finance team for revenue budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
• Prepare outlines and support the annual revenue budgeting process.
• Monitor, maintain, and analyze product and project costs in the ERP system.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly closings, financial reporting, and analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; Master's degree highly desirable.
• 7+ years of experience in an accounting/controlling department for Aerospace & Defense manufacturing.
• Experience in Revenue Management with Defense/Government Contracts.
• Strong demonstrated use of Windows Operating System.
• Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
