About the position

The Cost Accountant at Certified Origins Inc. is responsible for performing advanced cost accounting functions and analyses to compare estimated and standard costs to actual costs. This role involves preparing various closing and budget reports, maintaining costing information in the ERP system, and collaborating with operations to address cost-related concerns.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and compiles cost information, maintaining costing information in ERP system.
• Develops systems and procedures for work order accounting functions.
• Determines fixed and variable costs such as overhead, materials, labor, and other operational costs.
• Reviews and analyzes actual costs to standard and identifies variances.
• Works directly with operations to address concerns.
• Performs inventory revaluations and other adjustments as necessary.
• Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide reporting.
• Performs month-end and year-end closings activities.
• Determines and recommends cost-effective solutions.
• Provides product sample costs for Sales & Marketing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required.
• At least two years of experience in cost accounting required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as JD Edwards ERP experience.
• Thorough understanding of accounting procedures.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information.
