About the position

We are in search of a Cost Accounting Manager to handle our manufacturing operations accounting function. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting related to the manufacturing operations in our Paper/Packaging industry based in Orangeburg, New York. The Cost Accounting Manager will oversee and manage the cost accounting functions for manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This position requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams to drive financial performance and operational efficiency. In this role, you will coordinate with Plant Accounting teams to gather, analyze, and report financial data, facilitating accurate and timely financial results. You will also collaborate with Corporate Finance to develop, prepare, and present budgets and forecasts for manufacturing operations. Analyzing manufacturing costs, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency will be key responsibilities. Additionally, you will oversee inventory valuation processes and ensure accurate accounting of materials and production costs. The Cost Accounting Manager will assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, highlighting key performance indicators and variances. Providing financial analysis and guidance to support cross-functional teams in decision-making and strategic initiatives is essential. You will lead and mentor a team of cost accountants, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Ensuring adherence to internal controls and participating in audits as required will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in Cost Accounting
  • Proficient in Manufacturing Cost Accounting
  • Demonstrable experience in managing Manufacturing Costs
  • Familiarity with Standard Costs and Standard Costing methodologies
  • Ability to implement and manage Standard Cost Accounting systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Prior experience in the Paper/Packaging industry will be considered an advantage
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
