About the position

The Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the standard cost model from inception, overseeing a team of analysts, and ensuring accurate financial management of operational costs. This role involves coordinating financial close processes, managing vendor invoices, conducting reconciliations, and collaborating across departments to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support monthly financial close, cycle counts, and inventory audits
• Review vendor invoices for payments of manufacturing raw materials, including research and follow-up of discrepancies
• Perform monthly reconciliations of vendor statements vs. raw material payables
• Conduct reviews of accounting variances and direct improvement plans
• Reconcile monthly raw material standard vs. actual and provide variance explanations
• Perform various general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial postings
• Maintain and communicate cost center expenses in conjunction with FP&A Team
• Identify issues and collaborate with finance and other teams to resolve them
• Manage fixed asset acquisition, capitalization, and lifecycle activities
• Build comprehensive inventory cost roll using standard cost principles
• Work collaboratively across multi-department teams
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments
• Utilize established resources to complete work efficiently and effectively
• Support Cost Accounting efforts for maintaining JSOX Internal Controls
• Assist with maintenance of accounting policies and procedures
• Assist auditors with inquiries and samples
• Provide various administrative support as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
• 5 to 10+ years of experience in Cost Accounting
• Fundamental understanding of GAAP
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Knowledge of SAP or Oracle ERP systems
• Experience in a Manufacturing or Production Environment
• Previous leadership experience managing a team of 2
• Experience building a standard cost model from the ground up
• Advanced Degree (preferred)
• Experience with SAP S4-hana (preferred)
• CPA or MBA (preferred)
