About the position

We are on the lookout for a Cost Accounting Manager to be a part of our team situated in Mt Pleasant, Pennsylvania, United States. This role revolves around ensuring the accuracy of product costs and bills of materials within the system, reviewing daily production entries and reports, and enforcing policies and procedures related to production and cost accounting. The Cost Accounting Manager will also play a pivotal role in production planning, inventory control activities and identifying opportunities for workflow and process improvement. The successful candidate will uphold the accuracy of product costs and bills of materials within the system, regularly review and validate daily production entries and reports, and enforce company policies and procedures pertinent to production and cost accounting. Additionally, the Cost Accounting Manager will participate in production planning and inventory control activities, identify, research, and explain variances and trends to Management, and provide cost input for projects such as bids and new product development. This position requires the preparation of regular monthly reports for Management, assisting in audits related to costing, inventory, and production, and maintaining constant engagement with Production Management to ensure appropriate costing procedures are being adhered to and issues are resolved. Collaboration with the Purchasing and Accounts Payable departments is also essential, as well as identifying and implementing opportunities for workflow and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold the accuracy of product costs and bills of materials within the system.
  • Regularly review and validate daily production entries and reports.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures pertinent to production and cost accounting.
  • Participate in production planning and inventory control activities.
  • Identify, research, and explain variances and trends to Management.
  • Provide cost input for projects such as bids and new product development.

Requirements

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in Cost Accounting is required.
  • The applicant must have a solid understanding and experience in performing all Accounting Functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required.
  • The applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.
  • The candidate must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in managing a team is desirable.
  • The applicant must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting regulations and standards is required.
