About the position

Kalman & Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cost Analyst to support clients in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role involves leading the development and application of cost estimation methodologies, analyzing complex data, and preparing detailed technical documents for management briefings. The Cost Analyst will work both autonomously and collaboratively to meet project goals, with a strong emphasis on understanding the Department of Navy Acquisition process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, update, and apply mathematical and logical methodologies to cost estimates.
  • Lead, develop, update, manipulate, and maintain cost and affordability models.
  • Collect, normalize, and analyze complex data.
  • Build and defend budget requirements.
  • Forecast future funding needs.
  • Evaluate contracting strategy and courses of action.
  • Conduct planning for acquisition of capabilities.
  • Identify sustainment cost impacts of acquisition decisions.
  • Identify interface maintenance funding requirements for all affected platforms/systems.
  • Write detailed technical documents and summary materials for management briefings.
  • Prepare briefing materials and communications packages presenting analysis results.
  • Communicate and work with diverse organizations for data collection and analysis presentation.
  • Address business challenges with creative problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or Mathematics.
  • 2 or more years of DoD cost estimating experience.
  • Certified Cost Estimator / Analyst (CCEA).
  • Experience with Automated Information Systems and estimating software project cost and schedule.
  • Cost estimating experience with large-scale IT and ERP systems within DoD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with uncertainty/risk software packages like Crystal Ball or SEER for IT.
  • Excellent data gathering and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • An Active Secret Clearance (or higher) is preferred.
