About the position

The Cost Controller at Varian will be responsible for financial oversight of manufacturing operations and product cost controlling for products manufactured in AMS plants. This role involves communication with various inter-departmental teams and driving the digitalization of reporting, analysis, and planning of plant operations. The successful candidate will perform finance and accounting tasks that directly impact the financial performance of the plant, focusing on product costing, variance analysis, and continuous improvement of cost structures.

Responsibilities

  • Product costing and standard cost updates.
  • Analysis of cost variance and preparation of costing reports.
  • Identify root causes of cost deviations and implement corrective actions through digital solutions.
  • Analyze and attribute variable and fixed costs to respective cost accounts.
  • Conduct variable and fixed costs analysis.
  • Ensure accuracy of plant product cost criteria including material, labor, and factory overhead.
  • Guide technical partners in commercial and financial matters.
  • Maintain annual standard calculation schemes for machine usage, material, labor, and overhead.
  • Provide cost calculation base for product pricing.
  • Support continuous opportunity creation to reduce product costs and improve overall cost structure.
  • Drive productivity within the location.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis in support of AMS FI director and Plant Head.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in Accounting/Finance roles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of healthcare industry dynamics.
  • In-depth understanding of Cost Accounting, Variance Analysis, and Financial Reporting.
  • Strong analytical ability and integrity in decision-making and communications.
  • Ability to transition from non-digital to digital solutions.
  • Financial planning experience, including strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like QlikView, Jedox, Power BI.
  • Ability to influence people and effective interpersonal skills.
