The Cost Engineer at The Middlesex Corporation plays a crucial role in maintaining an accurate cost structure and coordinating essential reporting elements that contribute to the development of precise cost reports. This position serves as a vital interface between project management, cost management, and accounting, ensuring that all financial aspects of construction projects are meticulously tracked and reported. The Cost Engineer is expected to uphold the company's core value of safety by actively promoting and complying with all safety policies and procedures. This includes the responsibility of reporting all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to maintain a safe working environment. In this role, the Cost Engineer will review project features in collaboration with the Estimating department, ensuring that work quantities are accurately entered on a daily basis. They will also verify the proper coding for phases, hours, and slips, and will be responsible for closing out completed project phases while verifying progress entries. Monthly cost review meetings with the project team will be conducted to assess financial performance and address any discrepancies. The Cost Engineer will take the lead in developing quarterly cost-to-complete reports and will be responsible for reviewing and processing change orders for both The Middlesex Corporation and its subcontractors or vendors. They will also identify items that exceed the budget and communicate these findings to the Project Manager. Additionally, the Cost Engineer will assist the project management team with quarterly reports that cover contract status, contract profit, unit cost reports, cost projections, revenue projects, change order status, and change order costs. This position requires a strong commitment to the success of all team members and stakeholders, reflecting the company's dedication to quality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
