About the position

The Counsel position at Humana involves providing a comprehensive range of legal advice and services, focusing on moderately complex to complex legal issues, particularly in the health law sector. The role requires a legal generalist who can influence departmental strategy and make decisions on technical approaches for project components with considerable independence. This position is integral to supporting Humana's senior-focused primary care operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while mitigating external risks.

Responsibilities

• Support growth and retention initiatives
• Support review of broker interactions
• Review primary care marketing materials
• Collaborate and consult with leaders throughout the company to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Protect against external risk

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate, with licensing in at least one state
• At least 3 years of experience in health law at a law firm or in-house health care organization
• Experience in Medicare or similar regulatory work
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
• Ability to work both independently under general supervision and within a team
• Ability to work in a complex organization with diverse clients at all levels of the company

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated knowledge of Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage
