About the position

The Counsel position at Humana involves providing a comprehensive range of legal advice and services, focusing on moderately complex to complex issues. This role supports Humana's senior-focused primary care operations, influencing departmental strategy and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Counsel will work independently and collaboratively with various leaders across the organization to mitigate external risks and support growth and retention initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support growth and retention initiatives
• Support review of broker interactions
• Review primary care marketing materials
• Collaborate and consult with leaders throughout the company to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Protect against external risk

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate, with licensing in at least one state
• At least 3 years of experience in health law at a law firm or in-house health care organization
• Experience in Medicare or similar regulatory work
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
• Ability to work both independently under general supervision and within a team
• Ability to work in a complex organization with diverse clients at all levels of the company

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated knowledge of Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage
• Demonstrated knowledge of health care provider operations
