About the position

The Counsel II, Sr. Principal role at Honda involves providing high-quality legal advice and counseling on complex matters related to contracts, privacy, cybersecurity, corporate governance, and product development. This position is crucial for ensuring that U.S. Honda entities operate within legal frameworks while achieving business objectives. The Senior Corporate Counsel will engage in drafting and negotiating agreements, conducting legal research, supervising outside counsel, and managing risks through proactive measures.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, strategic, and practical legal services and advice in complex matters related to sales activities and significant contract matters.
• Draft and negotiate agreements for various business operations.
• Perform legal research on state and federal law to support business decisions.
• Retain and supervise outside counsel for legal advice and administrative hearings.
• Provide legal education and training to various Honda entities.
• Manage risks by identifying countermeasures and implementing proactive measures.
• Execute assigned projects to ensure completion within deadlines and budget.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate Degree from an Accredited Law School
• Admittance to the California Bar
• 10 years of experience as an attorney in relevant/related areas
• Good knowledge of the various areas of Honda business
• Strong experience in working with a team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong leadership abilities
• Problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
• Ability to motivate team members and build relationships
• Risk analysis and decision-making skills
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-haves
