About the position

The Counsel II; Sr. Principal role at Honda involves providing sophisticated legal advice and counseling primarily in regulatory risk and compliance matters. Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality legal advice on regulatory risk and compliance matters.
  • Develop legal strategies to support business initiatives, including consumer privacy and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and address specific legal questions from AHFC offices nationwide.
  • Advise on litigation and manage regulatory compliance issues related to AHFC operations.
  • Analyze and review policies and procedures, applying expertise in state and federal law.
  • Retain and supervise outside counsel for legal research and administrative hearings.
  • Provide legal education and training to various Honda entities.

Requirements

  • Juris doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and member in good standing of the bar of the state where practicing.
  • California state bar admittance.
  • 7-10 years in a major law firm or similar in-house experience focusing on regulatory and compliance risk.
  • Experience advising on contractual matters or litigation experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and team motivation skills.
  • Problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and other relevant regulations.
