About the position

As a Counsel/Senior Counsel in the Regulatory Legal - Product department at LG Electronics, you will play a crucial role in supporting and advising on legal matters related to product safety and regulatory compliance. This position is based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and requires bilingual proficiency in English and Korean. Your primary responsibilities will include managing product liability litigation, providing legal services on compliance and regulatory issues, and responding to governmental inquiries to help further business goals while minimizing risks. You will work closely with senior counsels and outside legal counsel to ensure that the company adheres to all relevant laws and regulations in the North America region, including the U.S. and its subsidiaries. In this role, you will conduct thorough fact investigations and review product and regulation analyses to advise business units on potential legal risks and develop mitigation plans. You will also provide support on actions and investigations initiated by U.S. and Canadian government agencies, such as the Department of Energy (DOE), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and Health Canada. Your ability to communicate effectively with business units and manage outside counsel will be essential in coordinating litigation case management with insurance companies and relevant internal clients. Additionally, you will conduct legal analyses to advise on product compliance, marketing strategies, internal policies, and product safety as needed. Your expertise will also be valuable in regulatory research and assessing the application of regulations to products, as well as advising and supporting the company's strategy in identifying environmental-related goals. Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to internal clients on product safety and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct fact investigation, review product, and regulation analysis to advise business units of legal risks and its mitigation plan
  • Provide support on US/Canada government agency actions, investigations, or inquiries before agencies such as DOE, NRCan, EPA, FDA, FCC, CPSC, Health Canada, etc.
  • Coordinate litigation case management with insurance companies and relevant internal clients
  • Communicate with business units and manage outside counsel
  • Conduct legal analysis to advise on product compliance, marketing, internal policy, and product safety, as needed
  • Regulatory research and assess application to product
  • Advise and support company's strategy in identifying environmental related goals

Requirements

  • JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school with 2-4 years combined legal experience preferred
  • Must be currently licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey or eligible to practice in New Jersey as in-house counsel
  • English and Korean language proficiency required
  • Strong legal research and document drafting skills
  • Able to attend meetings as scheduled in different time zones
