About the position

The Counsel at Ultra Mobile will support the Business & Legal Affairs team, reporting to the Senior Director, Legal. This remote position involves managing vendor and client contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and creating internal policies for various business teams. The Counsel will also be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, as well as developing compliance mechanisms and training materials for internal clients.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of complex contracts, including vendor, consulting, marketing, licensing, technology, master services agreements, reseller agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Create internal policies and procedures for shared services teams and broader business teams.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies, including FCC, TCPA, FTC, COPA, and ACP.
• Develop and implement mechanisms for detecting, reporting, and correcting compliance violations.
• Prepare for audits and investigations by maintaining records and designing procedures.
• Communicate legal risks in complex contracts to all levels of the company.
• Prepare training materials on contract principles and negotiation strategy.
• Partner with other departments to manage the contract approval process.
• Keep informed of relevant legal developments and analyze their applicability to the company's activities.
• Complete legal project tickets as assigned.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law; California or New York preferred.
• 7+ years of relevant experience as an attorney working for a law firm or as in-house counsel; telecommunications experience preferred.
• Experienced in corporate transactional matters and general compliance support.
• Knowledgeable in legal matters around media, consumers, intellectual property, and rights of publicity laws.
