About the position

As Counsel at Capital Group, you will be part of a prestigious Legal department within one of the largest asset management firms globally. This role involves supporting legal and compliance efforts through various tasks such as research, writing, and project management. You will collaborate with senior attorneys and business associates in a highly regulated environment, providing legal support across multiple business areas, including portfolio management and compliance. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and launching new business offerings, supporting securities transactions, and preparing regulatory disclosures.

Responsibilities

  • Support legal and compliance efforts through research, writing, and project management.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and business associates in a regulated environment.
  • Provide legal support for multiple business areas including portfolio management and compliance.
  • Engage in the review and launch of new business offerings and initiatives.
  • Support securities transactions, including the review and negotiation of transaction documents.
  • Help resolve issues related to investment guidelines, pricing, and trading.
  • Prepare and review prospectuses and other regulatory disclosures.
  • Review new regulatory initiatives and assist in developing business processes in response.

Requirements

  • JD degree with 3-6 years of experience at a top-ranked law firm or in-house with a financial services or investment management firm.
  • Experience with federal securities law and strong academic and professional credentials.
  • Member of the State Bar of California or admitted in another state and eligible to register as California in-house counsel.
  • Skilled communicator with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical thinking and proactive teamwork.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in investment management or financial services.
  • Ability to influence a variety of personalities through effective communication.
