About the position
The Counselor position at Wallens Ridge State Prison involves providing substance use disorder services as part of a 4-month Fentanyl Response Program. The role focuses on facilitating group and individual counseling sessions, conducting assessments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective treatment for inmates.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating group programming and meetings for inmates.
- Conducting individual counseling sessions.
- Providing case management services and maintaining clinical documentation.
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing individual treatment plans.
- Participating in multi-disciplinary treatment planning and case reviews.
- Collaborating with Virginia Department of Corrections personnel to ensure quality service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field is required.
- State certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in Virginia or a similar certification/license recognized by the Virginia Board of Professional Counselors is required within two years of signing the job description.
