About the position

The Counselor 4G position at the Prince George's County Police Department involves supervisory and administrative responsibilities in counseling psychology, forensic psychology, and clinical social work. The role requires providing emergency psychological intervention to police department employees and their families, addressing job-related stress and trauma, and conducting psychological assessments and therapy. The incumbent will also develop and deliver training related to crisis intervention and in-service training for department personnel, working under the supervision of the Division Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency psychological intervention for police department employees and their relatives.
• Address job-related stress and trauma within the Police Department.
• Conduct couple, family, and adolescent counseling.
• Develop assessment techniques to evaluate psychological or behavioral traits within the County workforce.
• Conduct psychological interviews and psychotherapy.
• Develop and deliver classroom instruction related to crisis intervention and in-service training to department personnel.

Requirements

• Supervisory experience in counseling psychology, forensic psychology, or clinical social work.
• Excellent communication and debriefing skills.
• Experience in providing psychological assessments and therapy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Detail-oriented and conscientious work ethic.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in crisis intervention training.
• Familiarity with police department operations and employee wellness programs.
