About the position

The Licensed Professional Counselor of Healing Arts at Metrocare is responsible for providing community support and therapeutic services to individuals with developmental or mental health challenges. This role involves monitoring services, conducting assessments, and facilitating skills training in a supportive, community-based environment. The counselor will work collaboratively with treatment teams and community providers to ensure comprehensive care for consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all treatment team staffing and promote psychosocial rehabilitation for consumers.
  • Provide individual and small group training in living skills such as social skills, budgeting, and personal hygiene.
  • Deliver therapeutic counseling services in accordance with clinical algorithms.
  • Assist in completing intake assessments and diagnostic formulations as needed.
  • Coordinate services within the Agency and with other community providers.
  • Engage and educate the consumer's family at an acceptable level.
  • Obtain authorizations from third-party payers as needed.
  • Monitor and assess assigned consumers, including home visits if necessary.
  • Respond to crisis situations and coordinate appropriate care.
  • Assist with on-call services as per Agency procedures.
  • Facilitate skills training and therapeutic groups.
  • Provide transportation for consumers to community resources or social activities.
  • Assist consumers in planning and implementing social/leisure activities.
  • Document services in the automated clinical record-keeping system within 24 hours after services have occurred.
  • Maintain required productivity levels as outlined in Center policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information concerning consumers and family members.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of specialized experience in a relevant field.
  • Current State of Texas Driver License or equivalent from another state.
  • Licensure as LPC, LCSW, or Ph.D.
  • Basic math skills and ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions.
  • Ability to assess consumer needs and implement training plans.
  • Ability to recognize and report side effects of psychoactive medications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred) for communication with diverse populations.
