About the position

The Elementary School Counselor at Shamrock Gardens Elementary is responsible for promoting student success through a comprehensive school counseling program. This role involves leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to address academic, career, and social/emotional development for all students, ensuring they are prepared for future challenges. The counselor will implement programs based on state standards and individual school data, providing direct services and support to students, parents, and educators.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a comprehensive school counseling program based on the NC Comprehensive School Counseling Standard Course of Study.
• Communicate the goals of the counseling program to stakeholders including administrators, teachers, students, and parents.
• Provide leadership and collaborate with educators to integrate the State Guidance Curriculum into school activities.
• Implement developmentally appropriate group activities to meet student needs and school goals.
• Assist students in developing academic, career, and social/emotional skills and goals.
• Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.
• Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, and community resources regarding student needs.
• Conduct yearly program audits to review program implementation and effectiveness.
• Collect and analyze data to guide program direction and measure results of counseling activities.
• Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and attendance, facilitating appropriate interventions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in school counseling from an accredited college or university or equivalent field with add-on school counseling licensure.
• Completion of school counseling internship.
• NC licensure in school counseling.
