About the position

The Counselor Lead at Pyramid Healthcare Inc. is responsible for providing leadership and support to counselors in delivering clinical services in accordance with facility standards and the program's clinical philosophy. This role involves facilitating group therapy, managing client files, and collaborating with medical staff to address client needs, while also overseeing family programming and assisting with aftercare planning.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates group therapy, including preparation of materials and curriculum development.
  • Carries a limited caseload as deemed necessary.
  • Communicates regularly with referral sources and company representatives to strengthen relationships and address concerns.
  • Works closely with the psychiatrist and nursing staff regarding medication management and evaluation of client mental health needs.
  • Manages client files by conducting scheduled audits to ensure proper documentation and compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Facilitates and attends weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Assists staff and program scheduling as needed.
  • Conducts insurance reviews and assessments as needed.
  • Responsible for the intake process with new clients into the program as applicable.
  • Participates in on-call duties to assist line staff with client behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Oversees Family Programming, including facilitation of psycho-educational programming.
  • Provides recommendations and assists in coordination of aftercare planning for clients.
  • Assists Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Director with clerical duties and other assigned tasks.
  • Completes all required trainings.

Requirements

  • Trainee status or other certification/licensure with the MD Board of Professional Counselors & Therapists or MD Board of Social Work Examiners required.
  • Specialized training in CBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and collaborative documentation preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound clinical judgment and excellent clinical skills.
  • Ability to problem solve by gathering and analyzing information.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations and react appropriately.
  • A working knowledge of federal and state standards as well as compliance standards.
