About the position

The Counselor and Program Facilitator at For Her is responsible for managing mental health services for clients recovering from trauma related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and exploitation. This role involves providing individual and group counseling, developing therapeutic plans, and collaborating with community partners to ensure comprehensive support for clients. Additionally, the position includes supervising counseling interns and contributing to program development and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling to clients impacted by trauma, focusing on personal, social, parental, relational, and vocational effects.
  • Develop and implement individual therapeutic plans and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Facilitate at least one weekly therapeutic support group for clients.
  • Coordinate with staff and community partners to provide additional services and resources to clients.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate case notes for each client, ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Work with program staff to implement and evaluate client and community-facing programs.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and workshops for clients and the community.
  • Supervise and mentor counseling interns, providing guidance and support.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Program Director regarding client and program progress.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in counseling, behavioral sciences, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed to practice in Texas; LPC-S preferred.
  • EMDR certification preferred.
  • At least three years of experience working with survivors of complex trauma and PTSD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding ethical best practices.
  • Skills in trauma-informed care interventions.
