About the position

The Admission Counselor at Tuskegee University plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of the university's student recruitment and admission strategy. This full-time position is responsible for identifying prospective students, providing follow-up, reviewing admission applications and other related documents, and ultimately admitting eligible students in accordance with the university's policies and procedures. The Admission Counselor serves as the initial point of contact for admission applicants, ensuring a smooth and informative process for prospective students. In this role, the Admission Counselor will actively contribute to the development and execution of the university's recruitment strategy. This includes establishing and maintaining relationships with high school counselors, alumni, and other stakeholders who can assist in recruitment efforts. The counselor will also provide technical and clerical support for the implementation of an applicant contact and follow-up system, ensuring that all prospective students receive timely and relevant information throughout the admission process. The Admission Counselor will manage a specific geographical recruitment territory, which involves counseling applicants regarding admission requirements and procedures. Additionally, the counselor will assist in the review of all applications for admission, ensuring that eligible applicants are admitted in a fair and efficient manner. The position may also require the completion of other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the admissions team and the university's recruitment objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Providing initial contact with admission applicants
  • Providing input into the development and implementation of the University's student recruitment strategy
  • Developing and maintaining contacts with high school counselors, alumni, and other constituents who may assist with recruitment
  • Providing technical/clerical support for the implementation of applicant contact and follow-up system
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of the recruiting schedule
  • Developing and accomplishing annual recruitment objectives
  • Counseling applicants regarding admission requirements and the admission process and procedures
  • Managing a specific geographical recruitment territory
  • Assisting in the review of all applications for admission and admitting eligible applicants
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, or related field
  • Proven record of working collaboratively with staff and internal and external customers
  • Strong writing, communication and computer skills
  • Knowledge of computer and other related equipment such as MS Office Suite
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently work in a team capacity with a broad range of staff to accomplish departmental and program goals
