About the position

The Counselor/Social Worker position at Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) focuses on providing social-emotional support to students in special education and alternative education settings. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality counseling services, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and implement behavior management strategies. The position aims to foster student success and well-being through targeted interventions and support.

Responsibilities

• Provide social-emotional services for students needing additional support.
• Collaborate with school teams and families to deliver high-quality services.
• Provide individual, group, or push-in counseling services according to IEPs or BIPs.
• Participate in creating IEPs, including social-emotional goal setting.
• Complete social-emotional and behavior assessments and analyze data.
• Develop functional behavior assessments, BIPs, and transition plans.
• Implement behavior management and intervention strategies, including crisis management.
• Support social-emotional learning skill development through targeted curricula.
• Provide in-service training with other teams, including expressive therapy and clinical teams.
• Collaborate with external partners to support students and families.
• Maintain documentation in student files according to regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Professional licensure (LPC, LCPC, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LMHC, LCMHC).
• Master's degree in social work, human services, or related field.
• 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a school or special education setting preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in special education settings.
• Knowledge of positive behavioral interventions and support (PBIS) frameworks.
