About The Position

Cenikor is seeking a Counselor in Waco, TX, who is passionate about service to others and giving back to the community. The role involves working with clients to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, providing individual and group counseling services, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position offers a full-time schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, and emphasizes the importance of a positive working environment and professional development.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required.
  • Two years of substance abuse treatment experience preferred.
  • One year of counseling experience with chemically dependent adolescents preferred.
  • LCDC or LPC, LCSW, LMFT licensure required.
  • Knowledgeable of therapeutic community philosophy.
  • Willingness to adhere to the therapeutic community modality.
  • Possesses good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in identifying appropriate resources for client development and providing substance abuse counseling.
  • Capable of discerning facts from opinions and remaining objective when listening to conflicting opinions.
  • Experienced in working with diverse populations.
  • Possesses good time management skills to meet aggressive deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrates patience, perseverance, and resilience in a challenging environment.
  • Presents a professional, positive image.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required, including MS Outlook calendar.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to develop and implement an individualized treatment plan within three service days of admission.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled treatment plan reviews every week.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services as indicated by the therapeutic schedule and treatment plan.
  • Conduct chemical dependency counseling sessions, life skills group sessions, and lead encounter groups as assigned.
  • Act as a rational authority and role model within the therapeutic community modality.
  • Collaborate with facility staff to facilitate a safe environment for client recovery.
  • Complete client discharge summaries within two working days of discharge from the program.
  • Complete required referral reports accurately and submit as needed.
  • Monitor length of authorization by reviewing in Welligent and communicate with Insurance/Billing to create/update treatment plans accordingly.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and meets criteria for appropriate level of care according to clinical, funding, and billing.
  • Ensure documentation in the clinical record is legible and complies with documentation standards.
  • Complete the Big 5 performance management tool by required deadlines and use SMART goals to support annual performance compensation review.
  • Assist Clinical Manager in upholding the core principles of Cenikor's culture to maintain a positive working environment.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulatory standards as well as Cenikor policies and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and foundation matters and refer questionable issues to your supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned consistent with the exempt functions defined in this job description.
