About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program at the assigned campus. The counselor will work to help students fully develop their academic, career, personal, and social abilities, while also addressing the needs of special population students. Responsibilities include delivering guidance curriculum in various group sizes, educating students on skills necessary to address troublesome circumstances, supporting students in challenging situations, and assisting them with needed resources to navigate crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program.
• Counsel students to develop academic, career, personal, and social abilities.
• Address the needs of special population students.
• Deliver guidance curriculum in various group sizes.
• Educate students on skills to address troublesome circumstances.
• Support students in challenging situations.
• Assist students with resources to navigate crisis situations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in counseling from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas school counselor certificate.
• Two years creditable experience as a classroom teacher.
• Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.
