About the position

The Counter Person at Yellow Springs Smokehouse is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. This part-time role involves taking orders, handling cash transactions, and ensuring a positive dining experience for customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in the food industry and strong communication skills, contributing to a dynamic team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and take their orders efficiently.
• Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately.
• Utilize Aloha POS system for order processing and payment handling.
• Assist in upselling menu items to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of the counter area and assist with bussing tables as needed.
• Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met in accordance with health regulations.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely order delivery.
• Provide support during busy periods to ensure smooth operations.
• Perform opening and closing duties including cleaning, organizing, sweeping, and mopping.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a quick service fast food restaurant or café is preferred.
• Familiarity with cash handling and operating a cash register is essential.
• Experience with Aloha POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus.
• Background in the restaurant or food industry is beneficial.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
